Food is probably the highlight of New Orleans. From Cajun to Creole and sweets to seafood, every dish in New Orleans is pretty much mouth-watering. Here are just a few of my favorite must-try’s for anyone who travels to New Orleans!
Café du Monde: This famous café was actually founded by an ex-owner of a creole plantation (that one can also visit), and it promises the best beignets (similar to fried donuts) and coffee combination around town! It is inexpensive and always very crowded, so try to snag a table in the early mornings or late afternoons in order to avoid a mile-long line.
Popeyes: This New Orleans native has quickly opened chains nation-wide, but it is always great to eat Popeyes in its hometown of New Orleans! They have great friend chicken, among other goodies…
The Court of Two Sisters: Care for excellent brunch and a beautiful setting with live jazz? This historic restaurant located right in the heart of the French Quarter has won many awards and titles for its delicious food, most famous for its vast brunch buffet. Enjoy a nice meal with live music any day of the week and the best of New Orleans in one, exquisite, location!
Acme Oyster House: This great oyster house certainly lives up to his name, serving amazing oysters, po’ boys, gumbo, and all of the seafood lover’s favorites—New Orleans style. It is a unique restaurant that always has a long wait time due to its popularity, but the food is definitely worth the wait.
Although these are only a few of the great restaurants in New Orleans, there are also some very popular New Orleans food items that anyone is bound to try when visiting: other than beignets, New Orleans serves excellent pralines, chocolate fudge, and, of course, gumbo!
